Very basic accommodation, however, the proprietor bent over backwards to provide real Newfoundland hospitality. Take the time to become acquainted?
We were visiting St. Anthony but guess what? Everything there was booked - it is a historical site and many tour groups and individuals are going to be visiting it. Luckily for me and my mom we were told about the Wildberry Country Lodge. You will have to pay in cash but the rooms are large and clean, the breakfast had a lot of choices, and the view is as far as the eye can see. The owner is also nice - he seems to be a people person.
Gracious host, nice/clean accommodations. Amazing views. Definitely recommend when in the St Anthony area.
Not sure if I should have rated it a 4 star instead of 3 star because I am not sure how accommodations are rated BUT we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were made to feel so very welcome. The owner was so thoughtful and kind. He bent over backwards to ensure we had all that we needed. He made us feel as though we were his personal house guests.It is very rustic, warm, and inviting. It is set up with a TV room, dining room, kitchen, and gathering room. In the evening, many of us guests gathered in the sitting room for a couple of hours of laughter and shared tourism information. We have never experienced anything like it before. We recommend it highly. The owner showed us true Newfoundland hospitality.Shirley Maynard
The rooms are large worth the money. The innkeep is a good guy, friendly. This lodge is out from most towns so it will likely have rooms available.
